University of Dayton Publishing (UDP) presents its Summer Workshops, part of UDP Teacher Training Development Program for the first semester 2013. Our aim is to contribute to the improvement of English Language Teaching in Peru, by helping teachers to enhance their knowledge and practice. Once again, we are partnering withUniversidad de Piura in an effort to bring you the best.

The Key to Teaching Young Learners

Teaching Young learners is one of the most rewarding experiences in education, but it also requires from the teacher great amounts of dedication and knowledge. Due to the important role the teacher has in young learners education, we want to share concepts and practical classroom strategies like storytelling, and using games and songs in order to make the best of their learning experience.

Competence-Based Education

CBE (Competence-Based Education) is a different paradigm to "traditional education"; it aims at making students more competent through the acquisition of competencies and the further development of recently (or previously) acquired ones. In this workshop, we will discuss how they interact and also how teachers can help students acquire them in the ELT classroom, through different activities and project work.

Demistifying CLIL

CLIL is one of the buzz-words in ELT these days, but, what is it? In this workshop, teachers will discuss the central features of CLIL and the demands it makes on schools, teachers and teaching materials. They will also be able to revise the most commonly used strategies and the structure of a CLIL lesson while they follow a teaching sequence based on CLIL principles.
