Active Learning

In this webinar, English Language Fellow, Deanna Paglia, will discuss what Active Learning is and why it is crucial to utilize different strategies to ensure that students are engaged in their own learning. Research has proven that the more a student is able to take ownership of his/her learning, the more he/she will retain. She will present a plethora of methods to make engagement mandatory in different skill areas (reading, listening, speaking and writing). These strategies also provide instant feedback to the educator, making the use of formative assessments a strategic part of his/her teaching practice, without being too time consuming. The goal is to provide the teacher with a variety of strategies that are easy to include in their daily lesson plans and implement in his/her classroom.
