To all fellow members of TESOL Peru:


Time for a history lesson!

What are 5 reasons why February 22 is an important date in history?

5. The first Woolworth store opened in New York in 1879.

4. The US Hockey Team won its first Olympic gold medal in 1980.

3. Pennsylvania State University was founded in 1855.

2. George Washington, first president of the United States, was born in 1732.

And the reason why February 22 is important, especially for all supporters of TESOL Peru is......

1. TESOL Peru was founded on February 22, 1991.

Congratulations to all members, supporters, organizers, and to those who have attended past TESOL Peru conferences. Let's look forward to meeting in Tacna 2013!!!

Sara Mercedes Meza is a teacher at Colegio Antonio Raymoni in Lima, Peru.
               She has 15 years of classroom teaching experience and was selected by the
               U.S. Embassy Peru - RELO Andes Rising Star project for a 4-week
               methodology training course at Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C.

               Ms. Schumi Jones is a Cultural Affairs Officer at the Embassy of the
               United States of America in Lima, Peru. Prior to her arriving in Peru in
               October 2011, she served as Vice Consul at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta,
               Indonesia. Ms. Schumi Jones joined the U.S. Department of State in 2002
               and spent six years at its headquarters in Washington, D.C. Ms. Schumi
               Jones holds a Bachelor's degree from Smith College in Northampton, MA
               and a Master's degree in International Affairs from the George Washington
               University in Washington, D.C.  She speaks Spanish, Italian, and Indonesian.

               Ryan Brux, English Language Fellow.
               Mr. Brux is the English Language Fellow at the Binational Center in
               Tarapoto, Peru.

Demistifying CLIL
CLIL is one of the buzz-words in ELT these days, but, what is it? In this workshop, teachers will discuss the central features of CLIL and the demands it makes on schools, teachers and teaching materials. They will also be able to revise the most commonly used strategies and the structure of a CLIL lesson while they follow a teaching sequence based on CLIL principles.
