This month we have organized a panel of experts from the ELT field to answer your questions. We will be joined by Karina Garcia from RELO, Lisa Mann from the English Language Fellow Program and William Machaca from the Department of Initial Teacher Training at the Peruvian Ministry of Education.

The panelists will answer questions related to 4 areas of ELT: Class planning and methodology, Learner differences, Materials and resources, and Assessment.

Lisa Mann
English Language Fellow currently based in Lima, Peru. She has worked in the field of applied linguistics as a teacher, director of studies, teacher trainer and translator for over 20 years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Portland State University (Oregon, USA) and a Master’s Degree in Translation and Localization from Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Catalonia, Spain). Lisa loves getting together with groups of language teachers and sharing ideas, experiences, triumphs and frustrations, and strives to make her workshops interactive, participative, useful and fun for everyone involved.
Karina García
English and French teacher trainer since 1996. She studied Education-Foreign Languages: English and French at the National University of the Peruvian Amazon, where she worked for 20 years at the School of Education, Foreign Language Department, training prospective language teachers in both languages. She holds a Master Degree in Education: Teaching English as a Foreign Language from Universidad de Piura and Diplomas in Educational Research from Universidad de La Habana and Universidad Cidade de Sao Paulo, Brazil, Teaching Spanish to Speakers of Other Languages from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru and a Diploma in Skills and Principles in Language Teacher Training from World Learning and CEM in Costa Rica. She is currently working at the Regional English Language Office at the American Embassy in Lima, Peru.
William Machaca
English Language Curriculum Specialist for the Initial Teacher Training Directorate at the Ministry of Education in Peru. He holds an International Teaching Certificate awarded by American English Programs of New England. With 30 years of experience in the ELT field, he has worked in different school settings in both the public and private sector, as a teacher as well as a program coordinator and director. William also worked at ICPNA Cusco, the binational center where he started his successful teaching career, and which allowed him to become one of the academic coordinators. His experience also includes active participation in teacher associations like Peru TESOL, where he was the regional representative in Cusco, Peru. William is currently involved in a great national effort to reform education, starting by the transformation of preservice education.
