The webinar will examine the benefits of theater arts in an ESL classroom, and present some strategies for combining ESL and Theater Arts instruction. 
 
What:     Drama and EFL Acquisition
               Webinar on English teaching, organized by the Regional English
               Language Office for the Andean Region at the U.S. Embassy in Lima.

Who:      Eric Johnson, Senior English Language Fellow
               Eric spent over 30 years working at a bilingual/ESL teacher and
               administrator in the Boston Pubic Schools. He has also worked as a
               professor at a Massachusetts University and has teaching experiences
               in Colombia and South Africa. His doctoral work at Harvard University
               examined the impact of native English speaking students working with
               non-native English speakers. He is currently the Senior English
               Language Fellow in Bogotá, Colombia.

              Calvin Beckett, Theater Arts Teacher
              Calvin works in the Boston, Massachusetts Public Schools as a Theater
              Arts teacher. He also holds an ESL license and incorporates the arts in
              teaching ESL. He has an undergraduate degree in theater and a master's
              degree in both ESL and theater arts from Sarah Lawrence College.
              Currently he is an ESL/theater arts teacher at Newcomers Academy.
