WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHERS
Camelot Teacher Training Center and Universidad de Piura sponsored by US Embassy have the pleasure to invite you to participate in the following Seminars:
1.THINKING CRITICALLY IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSROOM
This interactive presentation will show case activities and strategies to develop critical thinking skills and dispositions in the ELT classroom. In addition, participants will be provided a list of useful web-and text-based resources that can be used for both language teaching and professional development in critical thinking.
2.STATEGIES FOR IMPROVING THINKING
Effective English language teaching includes not only teaching meaningful communication but also preparing students to use English for critical and creative thinking. This workshop will explore tools to broaden and deepen the questioning used in the classroom: Bloom’s taxonomy, the elements of logical thinking and the language of evaluation. Teachers can expect to leave the workshop with an understanding of how to use these tools to develop more critical and creative questioning strategies for use in their classrooms.
Speaker: Dr. Deanne Hochstein, American English Institute, Department of Linguistics, University of Oregon, Oregon, U.S.A.
3.THE ART OF QUESTIONING
How often do you question your students in class? How difficult is it for your students to answer those questions? Questions are really important when teaching to develop our students’ critical thinking. Through our questions we guide our students’ reasoning and help them get where they really want to get. In this workshop we will reflect on the importance of questioning to develop CT through ELT.
Speaker: Lic. Magda Castro, Camelot Teacher Training Center ELT Consultant. Universidad César Vallejo, Translation school.
