Cambridge English Language Assessment invites you to join us for our new webinar: Developing functional language skills for Cambridge English: Key for Schools on Monday 15 June 14.00 - 15.00 (UK time*) and Wednesday 17 June 10.00 - 11.00 (UK time*). This webinar is aimed at teachers who are preparing candidates, or are going to prepare candidates, for the Cambridge English: Key for Schools exam.

In this webinar participants will gain a greater understanding of how they can use the Language specifications and Vocabulary list in the Handbook for Teachers to inform their teaching and to make their learners more aware of how functional language is used.

The webinar will focus on classroom practice and on providing teachers with ideas and activities that they can apply in their own settings to improve learners’ preparation for the exam.

Estimados profesores,

Saludándolos atentamente queremos compartir con ustedes información sobre nuestro Curso English Pronunciation que estamos próximos a iniciar. Para ello les enviamos toda la información adjunta sobre este curso el cual se desarrollará sólo con diez participantes ya que se requiere de un trabajo individualizado en cada uno de sus módulos.

El Curso English Pronunciation en sus dos primeros módulos, busca mejorar y fortalecer en los participantes la pronunciación correcta del idioma inglés mientras que en el tercero, se busca dar a conocer las estrategias requeridas para la enseñanza de pronunciación del idioma inglés a los alumnos.

DESCRIPCIÓN DE LOS MÓDULOS:
ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION I: BUILDING AWARENESS AND CONCERN FOR ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION
§  Awareness of basic features of Pronunciation
§  The use of Phonemic charts to familiarize with Vowel and consonant sounds
§  Quick revision of suprasegmental features

ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION II: EXTENDING AND CONSOLIDATING: MASTERING ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION
§  Further practice with Sounds, Stress and Rhythm
§  Activities to deal with Intonation and connected speech
§  Assessment of participants’ English pronunciation
§  Recommendations to improve English pronunciation

ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION III: TEACHING ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION
§  Problems teachers face when teaching pronunciation
§  Pronunciation, spelling and intonation
§  Activities for teaching specific pronunciation features

Los tres niveles se realizarán de manera semi-presencial ya que contarán con sesiones de clase presenciales y además de tareas y actividades a realizar en casa y en el aula para fortalecer lo aprendido en clase. También contarán con la asesoría personalizada para identificar las dificultades personales y conocer las estrategias para superar dichas dificultades tanto a nivel personal (primer y segundo módulo) como con nuestros alumnos (tercer módulo).

Every teacher needs activities that take no preparation. Maybe you don’t have easy access to a copy machine. Perhaps you want a few “filler” activities to continue the learning when students complete an assignment earlier than anticipated, but class is not yet over. This webinar will focus on listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities that take no advance teacher preparation.

What:   Ready-to-Go / No "Prep" Activities for the ESL Classroom
Webinar on English teaching, organized by the Regional English Language Office for the Andean Region at the U.S Embassy in Lima.

Who:   Pamela Y. Netinho obtained her M.S. degree in the teaching of Language Arts and Reading from Southern Connecticut State University. In her forty year teaching career, she taught English, developmental and remedial reading, and various elective courses in elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools in Connecticut, Guam, and California. Since her retirement, she has served as a volunteer ESL teacher in Saladoblanco, Huila, Colombia; Koltsovo, Siberia, Russian Federation; and Gori, Georgia. She is presently an English Language Fellow with the U.S. Department of State working with the Centro Colombo Americano in Bogota, Colombia.

Lida Esperanza Rojas Pardo obtained her degree in Spanish, English and French from La Salle University in Bogota. She has been teaching English since 2006 and has worked for different language institutions where she has taught students of diverse levels.  She currently works for the Centro Colombo Americano, a Binational Center located in Bogota, Colombia.

[ELTeCS_PERU] FCE Prep‏

Dear ELTeCS PERU Members

This Saturday 28 is the beginning of the FCE Prep course at Universidad de Piura Campus Lima. Registrations are still open at the Language Centre office: Calle Mártir José Olaya 162 Miraflores. Phone 2139600 ext. 2113.
The course will focus on strategies and language development for the new 2015 syllabus of the FCE exam (remember that as of this year, FCE has 4 Papers instead of 5: Reading and Use of English have been merged into one paper of 1 hour 15 minutes.)
