Abigail Gary

Abigail is from Portland, Oregon and received her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in Political Science and International Studies. She has 8 years of experience teaching ESL to immigrant communities in Portland and Chicago. After graduating, she taught English at municipal school in rural community of Chile before moving to Santiago to work for Chilean Ministry of Education in the English Opens Doors Program. She is currently a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Grantee in Lima and works in the Language Center of Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya. Additionally, she is assisting with an English primary education pilot program in the Peruvian Ministry of Education.
 
Katherine (Kat) Huang

Kat is a Linguistics graduate from the University of Virginia (EEUU) and is currently a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant working at Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología in Lima, Perú. Her current projects include a student workshop series, monthly practice TOEFL exam facilitation, and professor workshops focused on lecturing in English. She has experience in English teaching in countries like Colombia, Mexico, and China. 
 
Lisa Bochey

Lisa is a current Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón (UNIFÉ). Lisa serves as a resource for the women of UNIFÉ in the Translation and Interpretation department and provides an English Workshop that is open to the rest of the campus. Prior to joining Fulbright, Lisa served as a Spanish teacher with Teach For America and was the Executive Director for a summer program called Higher Academics Summer School (HASS). Lisa holds a B.A. in Spanish and Communicative Disorders.

Writing is a difficult skill to master and since it is a process, it needs time to be taught and improved.

We are hosting this Writing event again this year because it has proved to be well-received, successful and very useful for those people training for Cambridge International Exams such as Cambridge English First and Cambridge English Advanced.

En el marco de las celebraciones por el Día de la Juventud, reuniremos a miembros de la red de alumni de EE.UU.-Perú para discutir los retos laborales y sociales que enfrenta la juventud en el Perú.

Los jóvenes son una importante pieza en el rompecabezas de la sociedad peruana y tienen la enorme tarea de contribuir al desarrollo del país. En ese sentido, para abrir caminos de oportunidad y desarrollo en beneficio del país es muy importante que la nueva administración de Gobierno y la población en general entiendan cuáles son los retos laborales y sociales que afrontan los jóvenes peruanos.

Becario Fulbright 1988-1990. Ph.D. en Economía por Columbia University, Nueva York. Decano de la Facultad de Economía y Finanzas de la Universidad del Pacífico e investigador del CIUP. Miembro del Directorio del Banco Central de Reserva del Perú, del Consejo Nacional de Educación y del directorio del Instituto Peruano de Acción Empresarial. Ha sido Viceministro de Promoción Social del Ministerio de Trabajo y Promoción Social del Perú.
Karina Cisneros
Periodista con diploma en Gobernabilidad y Gerencia Política por la PUCP y la George Washington University. Alumni State del programa “Civil Society and Community Engagement in the U.S” del Gobierno de los Estados Unidos. Socia fundadora de la Asociación Civil JuventudDes, donde ha desempeñado diversos cargos y representaciones.
