In this workshop, Dr. Ali Cullerton will discuss the common challenges that exist for English language learners. She will then describe effective classroom interventions and activities that can be used to make the areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening more accessible for students. This webinar aims to provide English language teachers with information on discourse adaptations, scaffolding activities, print modifications, language production and literacy strategies that can be used in the classroom to support learners of a new language.

Who: Dr. Ali Cullerton, English Language FellowDr. Cullerton is a longtime educator and researcher from Chicago, Illinois. She received her Ph.D. in Education: Literacy, Language and Culture at the University of Illinois at Chicago and is involved in research associated with literacy, language, education and immigration studies. Ali continues to teach, conduct research and work with teachers in order to prepare them for the shifting demographic makeup of youth in the United States and abroad. Dr. Cullerton specializes in teacher training on the themes of language learning and literacy. Cullerton is currently serving as an English Language Fellow with Georgetown University and the State Department at the Centro Ecuatoriano Norteamericano: Global Quality English in Loja, Ecuador.
