Who: Melissa Schumi Jones, Cultural Affairs Officer Ms. Schumi Jones is a Cultural Affairs Officer at the Embassy of the
United States of America in Lima, Peru. Prior to her arriving in Peru in
October 2011, she served as Vice Consul at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta,
Indonesia. Ms. Schumi Jones joined the U.S. Department of State in 2002
and spent six years at its headquarters in Washington, D.C. Ms. Schumi
Jones holds a Bachelor's degree from Smith College in Northampton, MA
and a Master's degree in International Affairs from the George Washington
University in Washington, D.C. She speaks Spanish, Italian, and
Indonesian.
Ryan Brux, English Language Fellow Mr. Brux is the English Language Fellow based at the Binational Center in
Tarapoto, Peru. His interests in the EFL field include: teaching methodology,
contextualizing language, and project-based learning. Ryan has taught
ESL/EFL in Thailand, South Korea, the Czech Republic, New York City and
Seattle, Washington and when not working, is usually found frolicking on a
trail in a National Park.
